Term 1 - October 1st / October 4th

Weekly Learning Review
Class:    FS1          Week Ending:  4th of October
Communication, Language and Literacy
The children have been learning about the letter T-t and the sound it makes. We practised tracing and recognition of this letter.
The children have also been learning words that start with the letter T-t (train, tree, telephone, table ,etc)


Physical Development
The children had fun during the Teddy Tennis free lesson; they practised handling tennis equipment.

During lunch/snack breaks, the children have been introduced to the notion of "healthy foods". They have been taught about  food types that are considered to be healthy ( cereals, eggs, dairy products, fish ,chicken,meat, fruits & vegetables, etc).

The children have been taught to wash their hands every time before eating and afterwards. Also, when returning from their outdoor breaks , they wash their hands with soap and water.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
During the PSED lessons, the children have been learning about facing fears . They have learnt new songs about feelings ( “If you are happy and you know it”/ “Walking in the jungle”).

Mathematics
Children have been learning about the number 2 . They have been counting numbers 1-5. They can show number 2 using their hand. They can also recognize number 2 among other numbers. They have been practising tracing number two and colouring two objects.
Colour (Red)  .We have focused on the colour red and many  red  objects.
Children have had lots of fun painting and colouring and they have also been exploring other colours.
Shape (Square). The children have been introduced to the square shape and can now identify square shaped objects around them in the classroom. They can now differentiate a square from other shapes. The children have also been trying to make square shapes using markers and white boards.






Expressive Art and Design
The children have enjoyed themselves creating their own Egyptian flag . They coloured it red and black . With guided assistance, they have been able to glue a flag pole to it.
Understanding of the World

This week we continued learning about our senses ( sense of touch and we have focused on the beach/ sand theme). We had a role play on the sand area , just like a day at the beach.
Arabic
The children have been learning about colours and jobs during the Arabic classes.
